Lipolysis Fat-Dissolving
Fat-dissolving injections (injection lipolysis) are a non-surgical body contouring treatment that uses compounds to permanently destroy fat cells. They are best for removing stubborn, localized fat pockets resistant to diet and exercise.
How They Work
The injections contain a cytolytic agent—most commonly deoxycholic acid—which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown of dietary fat. When injected into the subcutaneous fat, the solution ruptures the fat cell membranes, causing the cells to die. The disrupted fat is then naturally flushed out of the body through the lymphatic system.
